Is XTSave completely free to use?
Yes. XTSave is 100% free with no hidden fees, paid tiers, or account registration requirements. Our infrastructure is supported by standard, transparent Google AdSense advertising.
Does XTSave store or host copies of downloaded videos?
No. XTSave operates as a stateless web application. We do not store, copy, or buffer your videos on our servers. All video and audio streams are negotiated directly between your browser and the public platform Content Delivery Networks (CDNs).
What video formats and resolutions can I download?
We extract progressive MP4 files featuring H.264 video encoding and AAC stereo audio. You will typically be offered multiple resolution options depending on what the creator uploaded: 1080p (Full HD), 720p (HD), 480p, or 360p.
Can I use XTSave on my iPhone, iPad, or Android device?
Yes! XTSave is fully responsive and functions seamlessly in iOS Safari (iOS 13+) and Chrome for Android. On iOS, tapping the download button downloads the file directly to your Files app, where it can be saved to your Photos Camera Roll.
Can XTSave download media from private or protected accounts?
No. XTSave respects user privacy and access control permissions. Our service only processes publicly accessible social media posts.
Why does a video link sometimes show an error or "unavailable"?
Common causes of extraction failures include: the author deleted the post, the account was suspended, the tweet is geoblocked in your country, or temporary network rate limits occurred. XTSave rotates across 13 distinct API and proxy routes to maximize uptime, but deleted posts cannot be retrieved once removed from the upstream platform.
Is it legal to download videos for research or personal archival?
Preserving public video for personal study, academic citation, news commentary, or archival reference without public redistribution is widely recognized under personal study and Fair Use doctrines. However, you should never re-upload or commercially monetize someone else's footage without explicit authorization.
